First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests if adding a common steroid (dexamethasone) to a numbing nerve block can prevent severe "rebound pain" after hand surgery. About 60 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either the steroid or a placebo with their nerve block. Researchers will track how many people experience severe pain in the first 48 hours after surgery.
