New combo therapy aims to extend survival in recurrent head and neck cancer

Summary
This phase 3 trial tests whether giving radiation and chemotherapy again, followed by the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab, helps people with recurrent head and neck cancer live longer compared to standard pembrolizumab (with or without chemo). The study includes 214 adults whose cancer has come back in the same area, is PD-L1 positive, and cannot be surgically removed. The main goal is to see if the new sequence improves survival at two years.
