Can new tech speed up sepsis diagnosis? study aims to find out

NCT ID NCT01904188

First seen Jun 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether new lab methods can quickly identify the germs causing infections and their antibiotic resistance in emergency patients showing signs of sepsis. Researchers will collect body fluid samples from up to 2,500 adults and compare rapid test results to standard lab cultures. The goal is to see if faster identification is possible, but the results won't change patient care during the study.
