Faster germ test aims to get ICU patients on the right antibiotics sooner
NCT ID NCT06478953
Summary
This study tested if a rapid lab test could help doctors choose the best antibiotics faster for critically ill patients with suspected pneumonia. Forty adults on breathing machines in the ICU were randomly assigned to either get this new rapid test or the standard lab tests to guide their treatment. The goal was to see if the faster results could lead to more precise antibiotic use and better patient outcomes.
