Ramadan study tests if sports drinks beat water for breaking the fast

NCT ID NCT07429201

First seen Mar 01, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looked at whether drinking an electrolyte-carbohydrate beverage instead of water when breaking the daily fast during Ramadan changes how much people drink and how they feel. Sixty healthy Muslim adults who were fasting took part. The goal was to see if the special drink affects thirst, mood, and overall wellbeing compared to water alone.
