One drain instead of two? new stitch technique may simplify recovery after mastectomy
NCT ID NCT07512141
First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to prevent seroma (fluid buildup) after breast removal surgery. Normally, two drains are placed under the arm and chest. Here, doctors use special quilting stitches to attach skin to muscle, and test if one drain works as well as two. 60 women having mastectomy will be enrolled to see which method reduces fluid, infection, and pain.
