New MRI scan could unlock better treatments for alcoholic liver disease
NCT ID NCT03113929
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study aims to find better ways to measure the severity of alcoholic liver disease using a one-time MRI scan. Current methods like blood tests or liver biopsies are not always accurate or safe for repeated use. By looking at special MRI signals, researchers hope to develop non-invasive tools that can track disease progression and help test new treatments in the future. The study involves 20 adults with alcoholic liver disease who have not had a liver transplant.
