New study probes stomach valve problems in gastroparesis patients
NCT ID NCT04661215
First seen Nov 01, 2025
Summary
This study aims to find out if people with gastroparesis (stomach paralysis) have abnormalities in the pyloric sphincter, the valve between the stomach and small intestine. Researchers will use special imaging tools to measure how flexible and open this valve is. The study will enroll 150 adults with gastroparesis symptoms to better understand how common these valve problems are.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help doctors better understand the role of the pyloric sphincter in gastroparesis, potentially leading to improved diagnosis or targeted treatments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly benefit participants and may not find clear abnormalities. Results may not apply to all patients with gastroparesis.
