First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tests whether a single high-dose steroid (methylprednisolone) given in the ambulance before emergency heart artery opening can reduce deaths in people having a severe heart attack (STEMI). About 5,200 adults with chest pain and signs of a major heart attack will be randomly assigned to receive the steroid or a placebo. The goal is to see if calming inflammation early can limit heart damage and improve survival.
