Summary

Researchers compare two materials used in pulpotomy, a procedure that removes inflamed pulp from a tooth and covers the remaining tissue. Adults with deep cavities and signs of pulp inflammation in lower first or second molars receive either BIO MTA+ or Well-Root PT. The study measures postoperative pain using a visual pain scale and checks whether the teeth stay vital.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Two dental materials used in pulpotomy: a mineral trioxide aggregate (BIO MTA+) and a bioceramic sealer (Well-Root PT)
What this could lead to
If one material causes less pain and better preserves tooth vitality, dentists could choose it more often for pulpotomy in adult molars.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center study. Pain scores are subjective, and results may not apply to other dentists, materials, or tooth types.
