Dental detectives: scientists analyze tooth pulp to improve diagnosis of toothaches

NCT ID NCT07533396

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This observational study will collect pulp tissue from 1,200 adults during routine dental procedures like root canals or extractions. Researchers will analyze the tissue to understand the immune and inflammatory response at the molecular level. The goal is to see if current diagnostic methods accurately reflect the true state of the pulp, and to find biomarkers that could help dentists make better treatment decisions.
