Could a leg nerve zap ease Kids' stubborn constipation?

NCT ID NCT06528470

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested a treatment called posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) for children ages 8-18 with constipation caused by pelvic floor dyssynergia. Researchers compared real PTNS to a sham (fake) treatment in 40 children to see if it improves bowel function. The goal was to find a non-drug option to ease symptoms and reduce the need for more invasive treatments.
