Mind over back pain: study probes psychological predictors of therapy success

NCT ID NCT07306312

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether psychological factors like fear of movement, anxiety, and self-confidence can predict how much pain and disability improve after manual therapy for chronic low back pain. Sixty adults aged 18–65 with low back pain lasting over 3 months will receive either manual therapy alone or manual therapy plus pain neuroscience education. The goal is to understand which psychological traits lead to better outcomes, not to test a new treatment.
