Smart scans aim to delay hormone therapy in prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT04175431

First seen Dec 30, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether special PET/CT scans (PSMA or fluciclovine) can find small areas of prostate cancer that have spread beyond the prostate. Doctors will then treat only those spots with targeted radiation or surgery. The goal is to lower PSA levels and delay the need for long-term hormone therapy. About 100 men who have had prostate surgery and radiation will take part.
