Magic mushroom therapy tested to soothe fear of death in cancer patients
NCT ID NCT06416085
Summary
This study is testing a therapy that combines a single dose of psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms') with specialized counseling for people with advanced cancer. The goal is to see if this approach is safe, acceptable, and can help reduce the severe anxiety, depression, and fear of death that often comes with a terminal diagnosis. It involves 15 participants in Ontario who will have therapy sessions before and after taking the psilocybin in a controlled, monitored setting.
