First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single dose of psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) can help people with opioid use disorder reduce drug use and stick with their medication. Thirty-six adults on stable medication for opioid use will receive either a high or low dose of psilocybin in a double-blind design. Researchers will track urine drug screens and medication adherence for up to a year to see if the higher dose leads to better outcomes.
