Magic mushroom compound enters final testing for depression

NCT ID NCT06308653

Summary

This study is testing whether a single dose of psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' can help reduce symptoms of major depression. About 240 adults with depression will receive either a high dose, a low dose, or a placebo pill, all accompanied by therapy sessions before and after. Researchers will measure changes in depression symptoms over 43 days and follow participants for a full year, with the option for additional doses if symptoms return.
