Magic mushroom compound tested as potential depression treatment
NCT ID NCT03554174
Summary
This small Yale University study is investigating whether psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' can change brain activity in ways that might help treat major depression. Eighteen adults with depression who haven't responded well to standard antidepressants will receive either a placebo, low dose, or medium dose of psilocybin during two sessions. Researchers will measure changes in brain activity and depression symptoms to understand if psilocybin creates beneficial brain changes.
