NCT ID NCT03554174

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This small study tests whether psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, can change how the brain adapts and grows (neuroplasticity) in people with major depression. 18 adults who haven't gotten better with standard antidepressants will receive psilocybin and have their brain activity measured with EEG. The goal is to see if these brain changes lead to fewer depression symptoms.
