Summary
This early-phase study at Yale will test whether a single 25 mg dose of psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, is safe and well-tolerated in 10 veterans who smoke and have chronic pain. Researchers will also look for signs that it might improve pain and boost motivation to quit smoking. Because this is a very small, early trial, the main goal is safety, not proof of effectiveness.
