Military study tests natural blood treatment vs steroids for aching shoulders

NCT ID NCT05160441

Summary

This study compared two types of injections for shoulder arthritis pain: platelet-rich plasma (PRP, made from a patient's own blood) and corticosteroid (a common anti-inflammatory steroid shot). It involved 50 military and civilian adults with shoulder osteoarthritis to see which treatment better improved pain, shoulder function, and quality of life over time. The goal was to find a more effective, longer-lasting non-surgical option for active people.
