Scientists probe if 'Blood Shot' speeds shoulder healing
NCT ID NCT07456215
Summary
This study aimed to understand if a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection could improve the quality of a torn shoulder tendon before surgery. It involved 40 patients scheduled for rotator cuff repair. Researchers gave some patients a PRP injection and others a placebo (saltwater) shot 4-6 weeks before surgery, then analyzed tiny tendon samples to see if PRP changed the tissue's healing properties.
