Jaw locking relief? Blood-Based injections show promise in small trial

NCT ID NCT07532798

First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested whether platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections can help people whose jaw slips out of place (TMJ subluxation). Forty adults received two injections of PRP made from their own blood, with either a low or high platelet count. Researchers measured pain, locking episodes, and jaw movement before treatment and again after 6 months and 5 years to see if platelet concentration affects results.
