First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests whether applying platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to the mesh used in hiatal hernia repair can reduce the chance of the hernia coming back. About 150 adults with large hiatal hernias will be randomly assigned to receive either standard mesh repair or mesh with PRP. The main goal is to see if PRP lowers the 1-year hernia recurrence rate and improves quality of life.
