New trial tests if proton therapy can spare brain tissue without hurting survival

NCT ID NCT05190172

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compares two types of radiation therapy for people with IDH-mutated grade 2 or 3 gliomas (slow-growing brain tumors). The goal is to see if proton therapy, which targets tumors more precisely, is as effective as standard photon therapy at controlling the tumor while causing fewer side effects. About 225 adults aged 18-65 will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The main focus is on survival without needing further treatment at 2 years, along with quality of life and fatigue.
