Faster radiation treatment tested to fight prostate cancer with fewer side effects

NCT ID NCT02470897

Summary

This study tested a shorter, more precise form of radiation therapy for men with early-stage prostate cancer. It aimed to see if delivering higher doses of radiation directly to the tumor over just five sessions could effectively control the cancer while causing fewer side effects to nearby healthy tissues, like the bladder and rectum. Researchers compared two different dosing methods to find the best balance between treatment effectiveness and patient quality of life.
