Summary
This study tests whether an oral blood pressure medicine called propranolol can prevent severe eye disease (retinopathy of prematurity) in extremely premature infants. About 276 babies born before 28 weeks and weighing under 1250 grams will receive either propranolol or a placebo. The goal is to see if the drug can stop the disease from reaching a stage that requires laser surgery or eye injections.
