The trial has finished. Results may not be published yet.
Stopped early
Stopped early, before it reached the end. That can be for many reasons, including safety.
Cancelled
Cancelled before anyone took part.

Expanded access (not trials)

Expanded access
Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.

Summary

This completed study looked at 102 adults undergoing a lung biopsy (EBUS-TBNA) under general anesthesia. Researchers compared two drugs—propofol (given through a vein) and sevoflurane (inhaled as a gas)—to see which one keeps the heart and blood pressure more stable and makes the doctor's job easier. The goal is to find the best anesthesia for this procedure to improve safety and comfort.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
propofol and sevoflurane
What this could lead to
If this study shows one drug is better, it could help doctors choose the safest anesthesia for lung biopsies, improving patient safety and procedure quality.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 102 participants. The results may not apply to all patients or settings, and the drugs have known side effects like low blood pressure or breathing issues.

Who is studied

The study population consisted of adult patients who underwent endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) under general anesthesia at a tertiary training and research hospital. All participants were scheduled for diagnostic bronchoscopy for evaluation of pulmonary or mediastinal lesions. Patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-III were included.
