First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether a gel called Prontosan Wound Gel X, applied during heart surgery, can lower the chance of wound infections. About 456 adults having planned heart surgery at one Italian hospital will take part. The gel is already used in practice, and researchers will track infections, hospital stay length, and any need for repeat surgery.
