Face-Down or Face-Up? study tests best position for sick infants

NCT ID NCT07170085

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether placing infants with serious breathing problems on their stomach (prone) helps them breathe better than lying on their back (supine). Forty babies under 1 year old who need breathing support will be placed in each position for one hour. Researchers will measure breathing effort and oxygen levels to see if one position is better. The goal is to find a simple, safe way to improve breathing in sick infants.
