Quick tests could curb outbreaks in nursing homes
NCT ID NCT06660433
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving long-term care homes rapid test results for flu, COVID-19, and RSV can help stop outbreaks faster. Normally, test results take days because they are sent to a lab, which delays action. The trial will compare homes that use rapid point-of-care testing to those that do not, measuring how many residents get infected and how big outbreaks become. About 24 long-term care homes in Ontario are taking part.
