Can early radiation stop spine tumors from becoming emergencies?

NCT ID NCT05534321

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving radiation therapy early to people with spine tumors that are not yet causing serious pain can prevent future problems like fractures, spinal cord compression, or the need for emergency surgery. About 74 adults with advanced solid tumors and at least 5 sites of metastatic disease will receive upfront radiation to high-risk spine spots. The goal is to see if this approach reduces hospitalizations and improves quality of life.
