Summary
This study tested whether adding probiotics (beneficial bacteria) to standard bipolar depression treatments can reduce depressive symptoms. 141 adults with bipolar disorder took either probiotics or a placebo for 12 weeks. The goal was to see if probiotics improve mood and how they affect gut and body inflammation.
