First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This early-stage study tested whether a new probiotic bacterium, Phascolarctobacterium faecium, is safe and well-tolerated in 20 adults, including healthy-weight individuals and those with overweight or early blood sugar issues. Participants took the bacterium daily for 15 days and were monitored for side effects, gut symptoms, and blood markers. The goal was to see if this bacterium could be used in future studies to support metabolic health.
