First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested whether taking a daily probiotic (Bifidobacterium longum) for 4 weeks could improve skin barrier function in 140 adults aged 18-40 with obesity. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the live probiotic or an inactive placebo. The main goal was to measure changes in skin water loss, a sign of barrier health. The study also looked at gut bacteria and inflammation markers.
