Baby bug breakthrough: probiotic may shield infants from allergies

NCT ID NCT07490587

First seen Mar 27, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a specific probiotic (Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis XLTG11) daily to healthy infants under 3 years old with a high allergy risk can reduce allergies, breathing problems, and stomach issues. Over 180 days, researchers will compare the probiotic group to a placebo group and also check changes in gut bacteria and immune markers. The goal is to see if this simple supplement can help prevent common childhood allergies.
