Broccoli boost: probiotic may unlock Veggie's hidden power

NCT ID NCT06561893

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking a probiotic (L. plantarum) can help your body absorb more sulforaphane, a healthy compound found in broccoli. 13 healthy adults took either the probiotic or a placebo for a short time, then ate broccoli. The researchers measured how much sulforaphane got into their blood and urine. The goal was to see if the probiotic could improve the body's use of this beneficial nutrient.
