Growth factor showdown: which boosts dental implant bone healing best?

NCT ID NCT05595772

First seen Jun 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested two types of growth factor membranes—PRGF and CGF—placed around dental implants after tooth extraction in 20 adults. The goal was to see which one leads to better bone density and bone level around the implant. Both treatments were combined with bone grafting material, and results were measured using 3D X-rays.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Growth factors (PRGF and CGF)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show which growth factor treatment better supports bone healing around dental implants, potentially improving implant success rates.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatments are compared for bone density and level, not long-term implant survival.
