Your own blood may boost gum disease treatment
NCT ID NCT07525531
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at whether adding platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) or injectable PRF, both made from a person's own blood, to standard deep-cleaning treatment can improve gum health in people with periodontitis. Fifty-six adults received either standard treatment alone or with PRF/i-PRF added. Researchers measured gum pocket depth, attachment levels, and markers of inflammation and bone loss in gum fluid over six weeks to see if the blood-based treatments boosted healing.
