NCT ID NCT05844982
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 40 times
Summary
This study tests whether two different eye treatments can prevent vision loss in people who have had radiation therapy for a type of eye cancer called uveal melanoma. The treatments are faricimab injections every 3 months or a fluocinolone acetonide implant placed in the eye. 600 participants will be randomly assigned to one of these treatments or to observation alone. The goal is to see if these drugs can keep vision from worsening over time.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
faricimab (injection) or fluocinolone acetonide (implant)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a way to prevent vision loss in people who have had radiation therapy for eye cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a large phase 3 trial, but it is still testing whether these drugs work better than simply watching and waiting. There are risks from the injections or implant, such as infection or increased eye pressure.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
