Heart surgery upgrade may stop dangerous irregular rhythm

Summary
This study tests if using two devices (EnCompass clamp and AtriClip) during planned heart surgery can prevent a new, often serious irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation. About 960 people aged 65+ with additional risk factors will be randomly assigned to receive the extra procedure or standard surgery alone. The goal is to see if this approach reduces atrial fibrillation both shortly after surgery and over the next three years.
