First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study compares two ways of handling nerves during leg amputation to see which better prevents long-term pain. About 200 adults having a leg amputation due to blood vessel disease will be randomly assigned to either standard nerve cutting or a newer technique called targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR). Participants will report their pain levels and quality of life through online questionnaires over one year after surgery.
