Summary
This study looked at whether giving a small amount of the opioid remifentanil right after breast surgery could prevent a condition called opioid-induced hyperalgesia, where pain actually gets worse. 41 women with breast cancer having breast surgery under total intravenous anesthesia took part. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce pain and the need for extra painkillers after surgery.
