Omega-3s may shield cancer patients from chemo nerve pain

NCT ID NCT05404230

First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking polyunsaturated fatty acids (like omega-3s) can prevent nerve damage in the hands and feet of people with colorectal cancer who receive oxaliplatin chemotherapy after surgery. About 120 participants will be followed for 8 months to see if the supplements reduce the chance of developing nerve pain or numbness. The goal is to find a simple, safe way to protect nerves during cancer treatment.
