First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tests if giving antibiotics through a vein or using stitches coated with antimicrobial medicine can prevent surgical site infections in children having open groin surgery for hernias or hydroceles. About 174 children will be randomly assigned to receive one of these treatments or no extra infection prevention. Researchers will check for infections at 5, 13, and 30 days after surgery.
