Breathing machine may keep disabled kids out of hospital

NCT ID NCT07473856

First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether using a special breathing device (intrapulmonary percussive ventilation) at home, along with standard chest therapy, can prevent hospital stays in children with multiple disabilities. About 146 children aged 1 to 16 will be randomly assigned to either standard therapy alone or standard therapy plus the device. The goal is to see if the device reduces the number of times a child needs to be hospitalized for breathing problems over 18 months.
