New hope: antivirals could stop hepatitis b passed from mom to baby

Summary

This study tests whether giving antiviral medication to pregnant women at high risk and their newborns can prevent the baby from getting hepatitis B. About 450 women and their infants in Africa will take part. The goal is to find a safe and effective way to stop the virus from passing from mother to child during birth.
