Vitamin B12 tested to shield cancer patients from debilitating chemo side effect
NCT ID NCT05165069
Summary
This study is testing whether a form of vitamin B12 (mecobalamin) can prevent a painful skin reaction called hand-foot syndrome in breast cancer patients taking the chemotherapy drug capecitabine. 234 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the vitamin B12 treatment or a placebo pill. The main goal is to see if the treatment lowers the rate of moderate-to-severe hand-foot syndrome, which often forces patients to reduce or stop their cancer therapy.
