New ultrasound technique may stop stomach bleeding better than glue

NCT ID NCT07532915

First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study compares a new ultrasound-guided procedure (EUS-SVD) to the standard glue injection for preventing re-bleeding of enlarged veins in the stomach. About 84 adults with high-risk stomach varices will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments. The goal is to see which method better prevents bleeding over one year and causes fewer side effects.
