Heart drug showdown: can amiodarone or metoprolol stop AFib after valve surgery?
NCT ID NCT07519161
First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tests whether two heart medications, amiodarone and metoprolol, can prevent new atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) in people who have just had a valve replacement procedure called TAVR. About 198 participants who show early signs of extra heartbeats after TAVR will be randomly assigned to receive one of the drugs or just observation. They will be monitored for 90 days to see which approach works best and is safest.
